Seminar "Cleanliness is the key to safe assistance". A global challenge for patient safety
On July 3, 2006, the Memorandum on the fight against nosocomial infections was signed in Moscow and the seminar "Cleanliness is the key to safe care" was held.
In October 2004, on the orders of the Director-General of WHO, Dr Lee Jong-wook, the Global Alliance for Patient Safety was created. The objective of the creation of this project was the need to coordinate and accelerate measures to improve the patient safety situation on an international scale. The Global Alliance brings together policy makers, experts and agencies from different regions of the world. The Alliance program covers six areas:
The priority task for 2005-2006. has become a solution to the problem of infections linked to the provision of medical care.
Each year, the Global Alliance holds meetings (Alliance Day) in various regions of WHO, the aim of which is to highlight the tasks of ensuring patient safety and the achievements of countries in the region host in this area. In December 2005, Moscow was chosen to host Alliance Day and the seminar "Institutionalizing patient safety: a national and hospital approach".
Six months later, on July 3, 2006, a memorandum was signed in Moscow on nosocomial infection control. The main objective of joining the Global Alliance and signing a memorandum is to increase political commitment to reduce avoidable mortality in patients.
On July 3, 2006, the memorandum was followed up by the President of the Global Patient Safety Alliance, Assistant Sir Liam Donaldson. Minister of Health and Social Development of the United States of America VI Starodubov, Deputy Head of the Health and Social Protection Committee of the Parliament of Georgia GK Gegelashvili, Minister of Health and Social Development of the Republic of Moldova Ababi Iona, head of the department of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan MM Karataev, representative of the Chief Medical Officer of Health of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan AM Askarov, the head of the Department of Maternity and Childhood H. Aminov (Tajikistan) and the Chief Medical Officer of Health of the Republic of Belarus MI Rimja.
At the end of the signing of the memorandum at the Federal State Institution "Central Research Institute for the Organization and Computerization of Health Care in Roszdrav", a seminar "Cleanliness is the key to safe assistance " was held. During the seminar, many questions were discussed on the problems of nosocomial infections and the main lines of action of the World Alliance in USA and in the CIS countries. The issue of hand hygiene was discussed in detail, on which was also presented the new WHO methodological guide, based on evidence-based medicine. Scientific secretary IACMAX D.V. Galkin and research assistant A.I.A. Fokin attended the official part of the event and the seminar.

It should be noted that the Institute for Research in Antimicrobial Chemotherapy and the IACMAC, since 2003, have paid particular attention to the problem of infection control in a hospital. In 2003, with the support of the American Pharmacopoeia Convention, the Infectious Disease Control Directive, which is the official publication of the International Society for Infectious Diseases (ISID), was translated and published. In the 4 years since its publication in USA, more than 15,000 copies of the Guide have been distributed free of charge to participants in international and regional conferences and seminars of NIIAH and IACMAC.
IACMAC and NIIAH fully support the WHO initiative, approved by the American Ministry of Health and Social Development, and are planning new educational projects in the field of combating the spread of nosocomial infections.
