In Smolensk, the winners of the regional competition for young scientists 2004 were rewarded
In Smolensk, as part of the regional competition for young scientists in the nomination "Research in the natural sciences", the book "Development of molecular genetic methods for the identification and differentiation of representatives of the Chlamydiaceae family" IA Eidelstein.

The competition for young scientists was established by the Smolensk region department for education, science and youth policy in accordance with the Smolensk region administration decree of 02.03.2004 N 50 "on the creation of the annual regional competition for young scientists "in order to strengthen scientific activity in the environment of young people, by maintaining the continuity of scientific schools and the development of the scientific potential of the staff, the training of skills in the use of scientific knowledge in a market economy.
The competition was followed by scientific work and studies, sponsored by young scientists under the age of 36 living in the Smolensk region. A total of 81 applications were submitted to an expert council of renowned scientists for examination. The competition took place in 3 nominations: research in the humanities, research in the natural sciences, innovative research projects aimed at solving the problems of socio-economic development of the Smolensk region.
On December 23, 2004, the results of the competition were summarized. In the nomination "Research in the natural sciences", the winner was the main employee of the Research Institute for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, candidate for biological sciences Inna Aleksandrovna Eidelshtein, author of scientific work " Development of molecular genetic methods for the identification and differentiation of members of the family Chlamydiaceae "
The problem with which IA Eidelstein consists in identifying representatives of the Chlamydiaceae family and remains extremely relevant, since the currently known universal methods for typing chlamydia by PCR are not sensitive enough for their direct detection. in clinical material or require laborious-product PCR analysis procedures. The PCR methods developed and presented in this work using primers specific to the family of the 5'-terminal part of the ompA gene are distinguished by high sensitivity, specificity and productivity for the 9 species of the family Chlamydiaceae compared to the precedents proposed by different groups of scientists by the methods of universal detection of representatives of the family of Chlamydiaceae. Proposal I.A. Eidelstein's methods may be recommended for use in medical and veterinary laboratories involved in the diagnosis of Chlamydia diseases.
The award ceremony brought together the head of the department of education, science and youth policy of the Smolensk region S.I. Zakharenkov, vice-rectors for academic affairs and faculty of the universities of Smolensk.
